Shillong, which literally means abode of clouds is a beautiful hill station in the North-East part of India nestled amidst the mesmerizing Khasi and Garo Hills. Mawlynnong is the cleanest Village in Asia is located in the East- Khasi hills of Meghalaya. Local food and tribal locals are the attractions of Mawlynnong. Dawki, a town of Meghalaya is a vibrant site of Crystal-clear water bodies. The Meghalaya forests are considered to be among the richest botanical habitats of Asia. Welcome to the enchanting region of Assam, a land that mesmerizes travellers with its enchanting blend of natural beauty, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. Nestled in the north-eastern part of India, Assam is a place of awe-inspiring landscapes and an array of unique experiences waiting to be discovered. Assam tour packages cover lush tea gardens, dense forests, and meandering rivers that cut through the heart of the state. The mighty Brahmaputra River, which flows through Assam, creates a captivating landscape with its vast floodplains and the mystical Himalayas in the backdrop. Kaziranga National park is a world heritage site famous for the Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. The landscape of Kaziranga is of sheer forest, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes and shallow pools. Kaziranga also has a good number of Tigers and is home to large breeding population of Elephants, Wild Water Buffalo and Swamp Deer. Visit Kamakhya temple - The temple is dedicated to goddess Kamakhya an incarnation of Sati.
Day 01: Guwahati Airport / Rly Station – Shillong (100 kms / 03 hrs.)
On arrival at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station & transfer to Shillong (4,900 ft.), called 'Scotland of the East". Enroute visit Umium Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. On arrival at Shillong, check in at your hotel. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 02: Shillong Sightseeing
After breakfast visit Don Bosco Museum, Ward’s Lake, Botanical Garden and Lady Hydari Park. Evening is free for personal activities. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 03: Shillong - Cherrapunjee (60 kms / 4 hrs.)
After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee (4,400 ft.), the wettest place in the world. On the way enjoy Mawkdok Valley, Nohkalikai falls, Dainthelen Falls and Ramkrishna Mission (drive pass). On arrival at Cherrapunjee, check in at your hotel. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.
Day 04: Cherrapunjee Local Sightseeing
After breakfast we get ready for a half day trek to visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge deep inside the jungle. It will take 3 to 4 hrs (depending on the physical fitness of the person). Afternoon visit Nohsngithiang Falls (also known as the Seven Sisters Waterfalls or Mawsmai Falls), Mawsmai Cave, Koh Ram Hah and Ecopark. Evening back to the hotel.Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.
Day 05: Cherrapunjee – Pobitora National Park (184 kms / 5 hrs.)
After breakfast proceed to Pobitora wildlife sanctuary covering 38.8 Sq. kms areas. Pobitora is the highest Rhino concentrated area in the world. Among the other animals like the Asiatic Buffalo, Leopard, Wild Bear, Civet Cat etc. are available here. More than 200 birds and various reptiles are found in this sanctuary. On arrival check in to the hotel. Evening free for leisure or proceed for a nature walk in and around the park. Overnight stay at Pobitora.
Day 06: Pobitora National Park – Kaziranga (146 kms / 4 hrs.)
Early morning, proceed for an elephant safari (subject to availability). Return to hotel for breakfast. Later, proceed for Jeep Safari into Pobitora. Afternoon transfer to Kaziranga National Park, the home of “One Horned Rhinoceros”. Check in at your hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Day 07: Kaziranga National Park
Early morning explore any one zone of Kaziranga National Park on back of Elephant. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Wild Buffalo, Elephants and if you are lucky then tiger also. It is also home to pelicans, storks and darters as there are a number of water bodies inside the Park. Return to the resort for breakfast. Mid morning at leisure. In the afternoon enjoy jeep safari through the National Park. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Day 08 Kaziranga National Park – Guwahati (220 kms / 5 hrs.)
After breakfast drive to Guwahati. Arrive and check in at your hotel. Evening visit 'Kalakshetra', a place where Assamese history and culture is presented through light and sound show. Return to hotel. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Day 09: Hotel – Guwahati Airport / Rly Station
After breakfast visit Kamakhya Temple, etc. Transfer to Guwahati Airport / Railway Station for your onward journey.
